Report Insurance Fraud

How to file a complaint or report insurance fraud:

• Contact the SC Department of Insurance Office of Consumer Services to file a consumer complaint if you disagree with the denial, amount, or handling of a claim; the amount your insurance company is charging in premiums; or any other complaints regarding your insurance. The Office of Consumer Services can also assist you with questions about your insurance.
• Make a fraud report if you suspect criminal acts such as filing false or inflated insurance claims, staging automobile accidents, selling insurance without a license, selling fake policies, or any other fraudulent acts related to the business of insurance.
• Contact the SC Attorney General's Office Medicaid Recipient Fraud Unit to report fraud and abuse related to Medicaid recipients.
• Contact the SC Attorney General's Office Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud Unit to report instances of abuse against vulnerable adults or instances of Medicaid fraud and abuse conducted by medical providers.
• Contact Medicare or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to report Medicare fraud and abuse.
