About Individual and Agency Services
The Office of Licensing and Education Services is responsible for administering statutes and regulations governing the initial and continued licensing of insurance producers, surplus lines brokers, adjusters, rental care companies, portable electronic vendors, public adjusters, motor vehicle physical damage appraisers, agencies, bail bondsmen, and private review agents. Also, this Office is responsible for administering statutes and regulations governing the pre-licensing and continuing education of individuals.
Licensing Office
The Licensing Office oversees the licensing of approximately 190,925 individual producers, surplus lines brokers, adjusters, public adjusters, motor vehicle physical damage appraisers and bail bondsmen. Additionally, this Office oversees 10,146 entities licensed to transact business as insurance agencies, 78 licensed insurance premium service companies, 306 licensed third-party administrators, 80 licensed private review agents, 589,850 company appointments and 216 service contract providers.
Education Office
The Education Office manages individual insurance education programs, which include the review and approval of sponsors, instructors, and courses for bail bondsman prelicensing and continuing education. The office also oversees the state insurance examination process, including working with test administrators to ensure the integrity of the examination questions and administration of the tests.
