Step 1: Complete Required Exam(s)


  • Those wishing to become a South Carolina licensed resident producer must first pass the appropriate producer licensing exam for that specific line of authority.
  • Register for Exam - Contact PSI directly at 800-733-9267 to register for the state licensing exam or simply register online. Exam reports expire 12 months after the date of issuance.

NON-RESIDENT PRODUCERS               

The license fee is $25. It is not pro-rated and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

If license status cannot be verified on the State Producer Licensing Database (SPLD), certification from the applicant's home state will be required.

To transfer resident license to non-resident license

:  Cancel the SC resident license.  Apply and become licensed in the new home state.  Once approved, apply online at NIPRfor a non-resident license in SC.

Title Producers only
:  
Title producers only need to submit the Financial Interest Disclosure Form (Form 3600).

Pre-need Producers only:  Pre-need producers are only required to pass the life exam and need to submit:

          a. A copy of your South Carolina funeral director's license; and
          b. Letter of employment from a South Carolina licensed funeral home.
