The Department investigates allegations of misconduct by bail bondsmen, producers, agencies and insurance companies. The Director has the authority to place on probation, revoke, suspend, refuse to issue or reissue a license when it appears that the insurance laws or any regulation promulgated by this Department have been violated or the citizens of this State have been willfully deceived or dealt with unjustly.
Insurance fraud is not normally investigated by this Department. If, during the course of an investigation it appears that fraud has been committed, the case will be forwarded to the South Carolina Attorney General's Office. Their contact information is below.
